Your senses will ignite with the tastings of crunchy phyllo pies, cold cuts, loukoumades -the Greek donuts- and other mouth-watering dishes. All you need to bring is your appetite!
Your tour begins in Syntagma Square, the heart of Athens, where you will meet with your foodie tour guide for what is sure to be a gourmet experience you won’t forget. From there, you’ll begin a 4-hour tour that will introduce you to local dishes, while offering you insights into the culture and history of Greek food.
Your taste experience will begin with a traditional stuffed phyllo pie, made in a family-run shop that was founded in the 1920s. Experience secret culinary gems only the locals know about, as the tour will take you in a variety of bakeries and food shops, taverns and traditional restaurants off the tourist trail.
In Athens’ Central Market, your guide will discuss the different products the terrain of Greece offers throughout the year. Learn the different uses of a variety of spices and the secret to what makes Greek cuisine so unique; bring home a little extra knowledge that will make your own cooking that much more authentic and delicious.
A great selection of distinctive Greek flavors is awaiting for you to try them; dolmades, pastrami, Greek traditional cheeses & different olive varieties will be only few of your tastings. Wrap-up your culinary exploration with home-made recipes prepared inside the Central Market and a Greek coffee served the traditional way.
Be warned that this is a food tour like no other! You wont just be sampling small mouthfuls; you will be enjoying traditional, authentic recipes and a hand-picked assortment of Greek products that will give you a clear understanding of the wealth of the Greek cuisine.
