Are you looking for an exceptional culinary experience that will satisfy all of your senses? Let our food-obsessed expert guide take you out on the town in a night-time quest to find the very best in fine Athenian dining. Enjoy the best evening views of Athens, the most refined eateries, and experience the wealth of the Authentic Greek cuisine, just like a local. The icing on the cake? End your evening with a tasting of a few local, delectable Greek wines.
Do you consider yourself a foodie? Then do not miss out on this opportunity to go on a culinary exploration evening adventure with our expert local guide.
Your tour will start where the heart of the Athens nightlife beats: at Syntagma Square. From there, you will be able to admire the illuminated façade of the Greek Parliament before taking a scenic walk to the first stop of your culinary tour. The modern deli your guide will take you is the best place to indulge in traditional Greek flavors, offering one-of-a-kind local dishes. Velvety ‘fava’ with smoked ‘sygklino’ ham from the region of Mani, handmade pies flavored with pastrami and ‘graviera’ cheese, all there for you to taste and wash down with raki, the traditional – and much-loved- Greek spirit.
Think that’s a lot? Well, your tour is just getting started! Next step is the exuberance that is Monastiraki Square. There, you will discover the reasons why this neighborhood is a reflection of the majority of the historical eras of Greece.
Heading down a rather picturesque alley, filled with an assortment of lamps of different colors, sizes and shapes, you will enter a neighborhood full of wonder, Psirri; the alternative, somewhat “hip” part of Athens. Scattered around its square, you will discover small taverns and sophisticated cafes. A local ‘taverna’ is your second stop, where you will be introduced to the ritual of ‘meze’ tasting. Small sides dishes taste better when shared, so don’t hesitate to engage in deep conversations while eating ‘Tigania’, wine-infused morsels of pork, and Zucchini fritters with ‘tzatziki’; only few of the dishes available.
No culinary, cultural adventure in Greece is complete without wine. For that reason, your knowledgeable guide will lead you to a local wine bar, where you will experience not one, but five different local Greek wines. To enhance your wine-tasting experience, each wine will be paired with a carefully matched morsel.
This tour is a truly perfect introduction to the gastronomy, culture and nightlife of Greece!
