This mythical land of rich soil and warm climate has a long-standing viticulture tradition stretching back thousands of years. Get ready to satisfy both your body and mind through a memorable travel experience that combines legends of the ancient world with wine-tasting and a mouth-watering traditional dishes.
When Hercules succeeded in killing the Nemean Lion, a temple was built to honour his bravery. Our tour commences at this very temple. Your guide will make history come to life as they recall the tale of Hercules’ triumph. Have the chance to wander around the impressive archaeological site of Nemea and let your expert guide narrate the stories of Hercules, as well as the shocking story of Opheltes. Don’t miss the chance to set your feet on the ancient stadium, which still hosts games and sporting events despite it being built in 330 BC!
Your thirst for knowledge may now be satisfied – but what about a little more wine-tasting? Moving on, you will visit a local winery and sample between 3-5 of their finest wines, including red, white and rose. Your wine-tasting will be accompanied by an array of the best cheeses from across the country. As we visit the second winery, your palate will be treated to the deep aromas of ‘Agiorgitiko’, a red wine with a complex taste and smooth finish. During this wine-tasting session, you will be served accompanying cheeses, which have been handpicked to complement the wine varieties.
With the sun about to set, the tour is coming to an end – but not before a fabulous 5-course meal, served in the home of former vintners, the Lazopoulos family. Get comfortable and enjoy a variety of traditional dishes, lovingly created with local products and, of course, served with fine wine – a feast fit for even the most lavish of Greek Gods!
